About us
Hope Enlighten Youth Organization is a grassroots initiative dedicated to transforming lives in South Kordofan
Our Story
Hope Enlighten Youth Organization (HEYO) was born from a deep commitment to address the pressing challenges facing communities in South Kordofan, Nuba Mountains, Heiban County. As a natural-based religious organization, we recognize that lasting change comes from addressing the root causes of poverty, inadequate hygiene and sanitation, and vulnerability among children and families.
We are currently at the grassroots level, working directly with communities to understand their needs and develop sustainable solutions. Our recent partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) under their hygiene and sanitation promotion program has enabled us to dig latrines in Umdoren County, supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs) with critical infrastructure.
Every day, we witness the resilience and strength of the communities we serve. This inspires us to continue our mission of moving families from dependency to independence, from vulnerability to empowerment, and from despair to hope.
Our Vision
HEYO seeks to break the cycle of the people who are affected by poverty, hygiene, sanitation, and vulnerable children by addressing the key areas necessary for their permanent transformation, moving them from dependency to a better life in the coming years.

Where We Work

The Nuba Mountains region faces unique challenges including displacement, limited access to clean water and sanitation, food insecurity, and economic hardship. Our work focuses on these pressing needs while building the capacity of local communities to create lasting solutions.
Currently, we are actively working in Umdoren County, supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs) through our hygiene and sanitation programs in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council.
